Back to School Drive Success: Supporting Local Youth at Port in the Storm

Back to School Drive Success: Supporting Local Youth at Port in the Storm As summer winds down and students prepare for a new school year, our team at Matthews | DCCM came together once again to support those who need it most. We’re proud to share that our annual Back to School Supply Drive was a success—thanks to the incredible generosity of our staff, clients, and community. Over the past few weeks, we collected a wide variety of essential school supplies for Port in the Storm Homeless Youth Center, a local organization dedicated to supporting youth experiencing homelessness. From backpacks and notebooks to art supplies and hygiene products, every donation helps ensure that students have the tools and confidence to succeed in the classroom. This week, we delivered a full carload of supplies to Port in the Storm—and it was all made possible by the caring spirit of those around us. At Matthews | DCCM, we believe in building stronger communities—both through our work and through service. Thank you for joining us in making a difference for local youth. Celebrating 20 Years of Engineering Better Communities

Celebrating 20 Years of Engineering Better Communities This year, Matthews | DCCM celebrates a remarkable milestone—20 years of engineering better communities. What began in 2005 as a small, family-driven firm with big dreams has grown into the largest civil engineering company based in St. Johns County, serving clients throughout Florida and beyond with a full range of engineering, surveying, planning, and landscape architecture services. From Family Spirit to Firm Foundation In the early years, Matthews Design Group was built on determination, collaboration, and a true sense of family. Every new team member quickly became part of something bigger—working side by side on projects that would set the foundation for the firm’s reputation. The journey hasn’t been without challenges. Like many businesses, we faced uncertain times during the 2008 economic crash. What could have been the end of the road became a defining moment of resilience. We learned, adapted, and came out stronger than ever, driven by a belief in the people and the work that define who we are. A Decade of Growth and Expansion By our 15th anniversary in 2020, Matthews Design Group had grown into a full-service firm, expanding beyond engineering to include surveying, landscape architecture, utilities, and planning. Even as we navigated the challenges of a global pandemic, our focus on teamwork, client trust, and innovation kept us moving forward. In 2021, we proudly joined DCCM, a national family of engineering firms. This partnership allowed us to expand our reach and resources while staying true to the local leadership and values that have been the heart of our success from the beginning. As part of this transition, we introduced a refreshed brand identity, uniting our legacy as Matthews Design Group with the broader DCCM network while retaining the same trusted team and commitment to excellence. Building the Future Over the past two decades, Matthews | DCCM has contributed to the development of schools, transportation improvements, parks, public spaces, and infrastructure that enhance quality of life throughout Florida. Yet, beyond the projects, the company’s greatest success lies in its people—the talented, dedicated professionals whose passion and expertise drive every achievement. As we celebrate 20 years, we reflect on the challenges that shaped us, the trust of our clients and partners, and the strength of the team that made it all possible. Looking ahead, we’re excited to continue this journey—delivering exceptional service, building meaningful relationships, and helping to shape the communities of tomorrow. Let’s Build the Next 20 Years Together. If you’re ready to bring your next project to life with a team you can trust, contact Matthews | DCCM today. additional articles July 12, 2025 Celebrating 20 Years of Engineering Better Communities July 6, 2025 Building the Future: Meet Our 2025 Summer Interns June 23, 2025 Celebrating International Women in Engineering Day June 5, 2025 Celebrating World Environment Day 2025 June 2, 2025 Hurricane Preparedness: How Matthews | DCCM Supports Community Resilience Facebook Linkedin Envelope

Giving Back: Fall Recap

Giving Back: Fall Recap Written by: Kristy Buttermore At Matthews | DCCM, our dedication to community impact goes beyond just providing top-tier civil engineering solutions. It’s about giving back and being an active part of the community we serve. This autumn, our team was proud to participate in several impactful events that reflect our commitment to making a positive difference. Kicking Off October: Supporting Future Public Works Professionals We started the month by participating in the APWA Northeast Florida Branch Scholarship Golf Tournament. This annual event raises funds for scholarships to support individuals pursuing careers in public works, construction, engineering, and public administration. The APWA NE FL branch aims to foster the next generation of professionals by covering costs associated with tuition, licensing, and certifications at accredited institutions. Our involvement in this tournament reflects our commitment to supporting education and professional development in the public works sector. Championing Local Charities at Davidson Cares Clay Day One of the highlights of our community outreach was the Davidson Cares Jim Davidson’s Annual Clay Day. This event holds a special place in our hearts, as it raises substantial funds for several remarkable local charities. This year, the event succeeded in raising $130,000 for vital organizations, including Builders Care, St. Augustine Youth Services (SAYS), Investing in Kids (INK!), Port in the Storm, Five Star Veterans Center, and Home for Hope. We are honored to be part of an event that brings meaningful support to such diverse causes in our area. Halloween Fun: Sheriff Hardwick’s Haunted Jail and INK!’s Jailbreak 5K As Halloween approached, our team got involved in some spooky yet family-friendly festivities. We proudly continued our sponsorship of Sheriff Hardwick’s Haunted Jail, an event that transforms the jail into a thrilling haunted house experience. It also includes a kids’ zone with a bounce house, face painting, and an outdoor movie, creating a fun-filled atmosphere for families. Additionally, we supported INK!’s annual Jailbreak 5K, a unique race where participants escape from the historic Old Town Jail and make their way to Vilano Beach. The event not only provided a memorable experience for runners but also helped raise awareness and funds for education-focused initiatives in our community. Supporting Alpha-Omega Miracle Home at the Blue Jean Bash & Benefit In November, we sponsored a table at the Alpha-Omega Miracle Home Blue Jean Bash & Benefit. Alpha-Omega Miracle Home provides critical support to women and children facing crises in our community.
